GTİP (Gümrük Tarife İstatistik Pozisyonu) is the 12-digit code of a product in the Turkish Customs Tariff. Customs duty rates, import and export rules and foreign trade statistics are all based on it.
The first 2 digits are the chapter and the first 4 the heading. The first 6 digits are the international Harmonized System (HS) code, the same in every country. Digits 7–8 come from the EU Combined Nomenclature and digits 9–12 are Turkish national subdivisions.
The HS code is the first 6 digits of the GTİP. Customs in the buyer's country recognises those 6 digits and adds its own national digits. Turkish export documents (invoice, ETGB, declaration) use the full 12-digit GTİP.
Yes. Micro-export (ETGB) shipments declare the GTİP of every item, and the carrier's commercial invoice asks for an HS code per item. When you create a shipment on Kargobaz, the HS code field searches this tariff.
The parcel can be held at customs, the wrong duty can be charged or a penalty can apply. If you are unsure about the classification, ask a customs broker or request a Binding Tariff Information decision from the Turkish Ministry of Trade.
