Customs duties and taxes in the USA

The US $800 duty-free (de minimis) limit no longer applies: since 29 August 2025 it has been suspended for parcels from every country, and CBP made the suspension indefinite for all transport modes on 24 June 2026. A 2025 law ends it permanently on 1 July 2027.
Every parcel to the US is therefore subject to duties and needs a customs entry, whatever its value. Courier shipments (UPS, FedEx) are cleared by the carrier; duties are billed to the recipient unless you ship duties paid (DDP).
Duty rates depend on the 10-digit HTS code of each product — a precise product description and HS code help avoid delays and wrong charges.
The US has no federal VAT; state sales taxes are handled by sellers and marketplaces, not at the border.

Write the two-letter state code and the 5-digit ZIP code (e.g. New York, NY 10001); ZIP+4 is optional.
Put apartment, suite or unit numbers on the second address line (e.g. Apt 4B).
